Bumblebees are abundant right now, getting as much nectar as they can before the frost kills the plants. Once the frost and cold come, most bumblebees will die. Only the new, young queens survive the winter, hibernating under logs, in unused chipmunk holes, or some other warm, dry spot. Once spring arrives, the queens will emerge and begin the task of building a colony, and so, the cycle begins anew.
Lest we forget, bumblebees are considered an extremely important pollinator too.
