This honey bee is on a Queen Anne's Lace flower, a naturalized flower from Europe. Notice the big pollen sacs on the bee's leg? Both bumblebees and honey bees carry pollen this way, mixing the pollen grains with some nectar to create these sticky masses. Most other bees carry the dry pollen grains, unmixed with nectar, on the hairs on the legs or under their abdomen.
