A big cluster of oak rough bullet galls

Iroquois

Found on an oak tree near Iroquois. These would have been made by a tiny gall-making wasp, one of the Cynipidae. You can see a hole in one, which indicates either that something has extracted the larva or the larva has chewed its way out.
