Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota)

Also called wild carrot. This is a non-native species, introduced into North America by early settlers. It has since spread widely across the continent and naturalized so much that most assume it is a native wildflower. Normally wide flat umbels of white flowers, attractive to many insects, they begin to curl up as they age, as in this photo. You can often find bumblebees snug inside early in the morning or on rainy days.

As sweet as wild parsley and eglantyne, such a fresh look at this wonderful weed which evades me. BBV
