A flock of about 250-300 Bohemian waxwings were picking off the last of the crabapples in the Arboretum. There was a cluster of about 6 trees, all with fruit which had been ignored earlier in the winter, but was now being consumed frantically.
As You know we have plenty of these upside-down-birds here too, but I've never seen that many at the same time! Poor little guys, I hope the crabapples, if not tasty, at least are nutritious.
