Upside down: Bohemian waxwing eating crabapples

A flock of about 250-300 Bohemian waxwings were picking off the last of the crabapples in the Arboretum. There was a cluster of about 6 trees, all with fruit which had been ignored earlier in the winter, but was now being consumed frantically.

As You know we have plenty of these upside-down-birds here too, but I've never seen that many at the same time!
Poor little guys, I hope the crabapples, if not tasty, at least are nutritious.

Oh my this bird must be very hungry to hang this way! Not the way I usually see waxwings.

Blimey, they must be hungry! Well shot Christine, I bet they were difficult to capture as they ate all the berries...
