Asian bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus)

There is a very large cluster of this vine in the Arboretum. A non-native species, it outcompetes our native Bittersweet (Celastrus scandens)and can also hybridize with it, thus diluting even more the ability of the native species to survive.

Berries being so attractive to birds, ensures their spread whether they be good or bad :(
