Bowl-and-doily weaver (sheet web spider)

Greenbelt trail in Ottawa's west end. These small spiders (3-4mm) are very common. Their webs are suspended between vegetation and the spiders hang upside in the middle waiting for prey to blunder into their webs. This is one of the Sheet-web spiders, which includes the Frontinella species, Neriene species, etc. They all look pretty similar.
