Funnel weaver (Agelonopsis sp.)

You can see the funnel on the lower right side of the photo, about 1/4 of the way up from the bottom. This habit of making these funnels is where the spiders derive their names. This particular spider sp. is also known as a grass spider because they will often make their funnels in grass. This one had made a long, deep funnel under some loose bark of a dead tree, about 4 feet above ground.
