These Chrysomelid beetles always emerge at the beginning of summer. When I see them, I know summer has arrived. They live on the Dogbane plant (Apocynum androsaemifolium). They are, to me, one of the most beautiful of beetles, and their irridescent colour can range from dark blue, through green, to bronze and dark burgundy, sometimes (usually) all at the same time.
