Bumble bee on cultivated Rudbeckia

Bees of all sorts are really active right now, along with many wasp species, seeking nectar from the last of the summer flowers. Many species, such as the bumblebees will die once the weather turns cold. Only the young Bumblebee queen will survive from a colony, and she will head off to find winter shelter where she can safely hibernate until time to start a new colony next spring.
