Virginia ctenucha caterpillar (Ctenucha virginica)

Larose Forest. The Virginia ctenucha moth overwinters in the larval (caterpillar) stage. On warmish spring days it can be found wandering around. It wasn't actually that warm but I guess in the sheltered location of a sandy bank with lots of leaf litter, on which the sun was beating, it was warm enough.
