Purple loosestrife (Lysimachia salicaria)

Although an invasive species, this plant does attract a great number of butterflies and other insects. The loosestrife beetle (Galerucella sp.) has been found only occasionally in Larose, but will no doubt spread in time. This insect was introduced to NA as a biocontrol agent for purple loosetrife and seems to be doing its job well.
