Cuckoo Bees (Family: Apidae; Subfamily: Nomadinae)

Nomada bees are wasp-like insects who have no provisions for carrying pollen. This they steal from the nests of other bees, particularly Andrenids. The beautifully coloured little Nomada bees are often amongst the first to be seen in spring. I find them always on willow catkins and around spring beauties, feeding on nectar.
