Joining the Vancouver Community Concert Band is easy.
Some members have started an instrument after retirement. Many members had not touched their instruments in years - even decades! - And some have joined the VCCB while learning a new instrument.
We have three levels, each one meets at its own time: beginner, intermediate and concert band. There are no fees for any level.
All you need is your own instrument, some music and a desire to play. The majority of the band members are amateur musicians, but we have a couple of pros. The members range in age from middle school to retired.
All positions in the VCCB are strictly voluntary.
Our goals include promoting the enjoyment of music in our community and helping to revitalize the American tradition of the town band. We play music from a wide range of musical eras, including marches, folk tunes, musicals, jazz and classical adaptations. Our concerts are always free. Donations are gratefully accepted and applied toward the purchase of new music and other musical essentials.
Contact director, Dr. Jim Rourk, 360 735-7806 about joining the band. Rehearsals are Tuesdays in the First Congregational Church, UCC, 1220 NE 68th St. Vancouver.
