Day One of our tour was spent trying to get the key of our rented Honda Odyssey to turn, trying to get the satnav to stay on long enough to tell us anything, giving up and buying maps instead, then getting lost anyway. In between times, we visited the Arataki Visitor Centre in the ranges west of Auckland, found our way to our B&B in Devonport, had a short ferry ride to the city for a quick look around, and found a very acceptable Greek restaurant in Devonport.
