The signs said "Naphtha Plant"

Newnes, Wolgan Valley, New South Wales view map

Newnes in the early twentieth century was a thriving industrial centre, where coal and shale was
mined and oil and kerosene produced. When it all became unprofitable and the works closed down,
the buildings weren't just allowed to rot in the bush. Some of the equipment was moved away, and
some houses re-erected in other towns, but mostly everything was just blown up and left like this.
