Built 1828, this was the original rectory for Holy Trinity church, a few streets away. Later it was part
of Christ College, a residential college associated with the University of Tasmania, which was originally
a few streets away in the other direction. The warden lived in "The Lodge" (this sandstone building),
the students lived in the the brick building on the right. The room with all the windows just visible on the
left of this picture was the students' dining room. The buildings are now for something else altogether.
Note for my family: My father was acting warden of Christ College in 1933. In the 1950s I was a resident student
in the brick building, and then when my father became warden of the college again, I lived upstairs in the lodge.
