To get to Sacha Lodge, we flew from Quito to Coca, then enjoyed a two-hour trip in a motorised canoe to a landing further down the Napo River. Then a 25-minute walk, complicated by the fact that the river was high and covered our path for some distance. Never mind, we had gumboots. Then a canoe ride across a small lake to the lodge. Over the next few days: walks, (some a bit challenging for us oldies), canoe rides, good food (not challenging at all), butterflies, the occasional glimpse of wildlife, more walks, relaxation in luxury.
