Rim of the caldera encircling the town of Aso and the Mt. Aso volcano. The rim is about 15 miles in diameter and as you can see here, it looks like a mountain range. Imagine the volcanic eruption that left the caldera! and only 90,000 years ago. A blink, geologically.
