Annual Inspection

Or how to terrify children.

This little boy was the son of the mechanic. I talked to him briefly and he seemed a little shy. When I got the camera out and pointed it at him and snapped it, he leaped off the stool and ran behind a car to hide. I think I've reached a new low in photographing people. :)

No, that's not my truck. I wish. :)

Classic portrait.

I think you got a great environmental portrait. His expression looks so natural--a little bored and sad, maybe. Nice contrast with the big, hulking auto.

Oh I just love this. You might think you've reached an all time low but you really got a shot here. Nice work. Sorry the boy was so traumatized... that reaction you got is my worst photographic nightmare and the reason why I don't have more candid street portraits!

He looks more sad than shy.
Guest 15-Jul-2006 14:49
Bless his heart. He'd rather be ANYWHERE else. Great shots, Karen.

Well it's not everyday someone yanks a camera out and takes a pic of you, LOL!
I like this one of the boy, he looks bored or thoughtful.

Shucks. I don't want to be here and then this lady shoves her camera in my face.

These are terrific people shots Karen! Love the expression on the little guy's face. GMV

Maybe he isn't the son of the mechanic but someone had to leave him as security until they paid their repair bill... or for a tank of gas ;-)

A PS...you mentioned our winters are much nice than yours...have to agree, 26c that's 78f sure is warmer :>)
laine8213-Jul-2006 23:30
My concern is him being around equipment where anything can go wrong & it may become a sad situation of being at the wrong place at the wrong time :>(
Other than that, happy your safe again !!

Your PAD cracks me up! I know how you feel about people photography. Pleased you're now safely back on the road. No more bills for another year - fingers crossed!
Guest 13-Jul-2006 16:37
Don't you feel bad to put this kid in a such bad position ;-) My policy in the past was change the pads whenever it whistels too much, but that does not work because you get to change the disks as well most of the time!

I think the boy is being a boy in summer---wishing he were somewhere else, like at a water hole or running with his friends.

Nice shots. I guess these annual inspections are helpful in making sure the car
is safe.

How funny....I think we reach new photographic lows when doing PAD...he is cute. And you have caputred his shyness. You dont want that truck...because with that truck comes a big gas bill..a big insurance bill and a big registration bill. In california registration for a truck like that could be $400 to $600 depending on how old it is.

Cute little boy. He must be very shy.
Kathy Pedersen13-Jul-2006 13:41
He seems so painfully shy, poor child. A wonderful documentary displaying mood.
jypsee13-Jul-2006 13:40
Looks like he just got the bill....

Both are great shots.
No brakes, bad tires, and poor alignment?
I am glad that phase of your life is over.
