Excellent shot and commentary. GMV

A thought provoking commentary here Karen. We do pay a horrendous price for our comforts.
Sheila03-Jun-2006 12:03
Thought provoking words as usual.
When we came to live in Perth with its horribly hot summers, we were told to keep the windows and curtains closed during the day and it works.

AC? What's that??
For it seems like 9 months in the year I'm freezing in a house I can't afford to heat, no freaking way will I ever get AC. I might turn the fan on 1x, in August. And my flannels never get put away :)

Excellent shot Karen. The streaks on the boxcar give the impression of movement. v

Well done composition Karen and thoughtful comment about the price of the resource.
Coleen Perilloux Landry02-Jun-2006 23:05
Reminds me of our oil industry.

Nice shot
So true.
But here we have no air conditioning. Use fans and ceiling fans in every room. But some day it just is to hot.

A cat chasing it's tail isn't it. Supply and demand & in the end the user really does pay !!
virginiacoastline02-Jun-2006 15:23
it makes me want to reconsider closing all the windows and cranking the A/C . . . but I will anyway . . .

Touching comentary, Karen. A reminder to all of us that living in the lap of luxury in cool homes at the sacrafice of human beings is sad. I know I use alternative measures for keeping cool....I have fans in every room to keep cool...I agree with Roe, we can all stand to live with the heat.

Nice shot.........there are alternative energy sources to be used, but the cost is to great in JOBS.......Fox News had a segment on a car using water as fuel....100 miles on 4 oz of water. Can you imagine the lost of jobs worldwide if they allowed that to come about? It is sad, but it is all about the economy, not human lives.

Nice shot

Another great commentary Karen and a cool shot to go with it, energy at a PRICE!!! human life:-(
royalld02-Jun-2006 11:55
In the near future we will have no choice.
Energy will be so costly (both dollars and lives) we will HAVE TO use less.
Guest 02-Jun-2006 11:54
another great commentary Karen, well put, i am thinking about you, WV and the miners right now..."Coal, it keeps the AC on"
Joseph Brennskag02-Jun-2006 11:43
Very well put Karen. And it maddens me to think how the politicians have allowed the systematic rape of our natural resources with no thought for the future when its gone.
Guest 02-Jun-2006 11:21
Yes, Karen, Energy has a very high cost, most of it is not directly visible.
Regardless of the cost, saving energy should be a daily concern for all of us, if we think to the next generations. And we also need to keep in mind (to help ;-)) that most of the world has NO air conditionning at all.
Roe..02-Jun-2006 11:15
I'll deal with the heat..nice shot!...v
