Excellent capture of that cold, bleak, deserted feeling. Wonderful image! ~BV~

It's either very early, very later or very cold and I'm guessing cold. Nice POV here Karen and a fine capture of an American town. Vote.

Ooooh yeah, this one fires on all cylinders. The relatively low perspective (not sure whether you knelt down or whether the land just runs that way) really helps to lead up and into the shot, as well as the line of both the street and the lamps along the side. Taking out the colour, the overcast sky and the relative absence of people all make for the story of a cold and wintery day, where people have other places to be. Very nice job on this one.

Looks cold. No one outside unless they have to. Really nice B&W, Karen. Like the tones. The brickwork in the foreground is a really attractive feature for the town. V

Really nice in black and white. It has a really lonely feel to it.

I was going to guess a Sunday because it looks so quiet.
Then I saw the date. V.

Strong atmosphere with the deserted streets and these tones. Very well composed. "V"

Great view of the deserted street. I'm not surprised everyone is inside keeping warm. V
Colin Storey04-Feb-2014 20:25
Fantastic deserted street scene with superb tones. v

Excellent detail and range of tones. You can hear the winds blowing up the street and the stillness all around. V

jay-walking looks a safe bet here..the grey starkness of winter is evident, although the older buildings are intriguing..

A terrific shot down the main (?) street of this town. There's a timelessness about this wonderful image. V

Quiet solitude. Well done in B/W.
Everyone is in having breakfast and coffee.

My kind of scene. It tells a story so often seen in small towns. It is poignant.

The street looks bleak and deserted.Black and white projects the atmosphere of a grey winter's day.V

Reminds me of the great song by Simon & Garfunkel Karen.
A winter's day
In a deep and dark December;
I am alone,

I would like this kind of Winter day. The less snow the better. V
laine03-Feb-2014 22:00
Snow has melted, all is quiet... I like this pretty part of your town
Jim Coffman03-Feb-2014 21:43
It seems to be a very slow day as well.. Nice street capture,Karen.
Helen Betts03-Feb-2014 21:24
Pretty desolate looking, but I guess very appropriate for a cold winter's day. The use of B&W really enhances the mood here, too. V.
