Taken at a lesser known but very impressive waterfalls outside Athens, West Virginia.
Most of the property is under protection by the Nature Conservancy. From the WV branch webpage:
"Preserve: Brush Creek
Location: Mercer County, West Virginia
Habitat Type:
124 acres of river gorge; includes limestone and sandstone outcrops with a suite of rare species. The preserve follows Brush Creek to its mouth at the Bluestone River.
What to Look for:
A trail that parallels Brush Creek is a great place to see dramatic spring wildflowers, migrating warblers, and the dramatic limestone and sandstone cliffs. Adjacent to the preserve, the State of West Virginia owns the largest falls in southern West Virginia, Brush Creek Falls."
You can visit the Nature Conservancy webpage, and I recommend a look here.
