I saw this very old fossils of a fish in Natinal Geographic Store as a decor for a wealthy home owner for only £7939.
I think it is a contradiction to the aim of Natinal Geographic Society to preseve our ancient past!
It is interesting to read the first paragraph of the description:
"WE have taken on the role of revealing the secrets of fossils (are silent witnesses of the ancient past) while still respecting nature. Most specimens are found on the earth's surface.
If allowed to remain where they are, the natural forces of the earth would eventually erode these fossil records.
As result of careful research and evaluation undertaken by our expert paleontologists, WE carefully select the most beautiful and representative specimens from the sedimentary layers of the earth's crust. Easch fossil specimen is then prepared by an expert technician in 'Geolinea - Palesontological Laboratory'."
No wonder many of these beautiful ancient fossils were kept away from public in private expensive houses or private collections!!
