"Candle Light" by Paul Rohal

Look carefully and you will see both the lamp filament and a candle have been used to light this scene. I was a sparky by trade, so this is a shameless take off of John's tap/running water shot.

Well, I need to post a disclaimer, don't try this at home folks. I'm a profesional and have years of training in how not to get zapped. Mind you that didn't help. I got a boot while doing this. Hah that'll learn me. - Paul

Funny that you shot this, as this was one I was thinking of doing.
You did a better job than I would have.
You have a leg up though since you're a sparky (I learned a new Aussie word!).

Warren, i know what you're saying. However, when I first saw it, my mind automatically summed it up as a part of a whole as we seldom see light bulbs separate from their fixtures, power supply etc., especially when lit. Anyway, voting time will decide.

I think this is an excellent photo, and I might vote for it except that I have reservations as to whether it conforms with the the theme. Flick wrote, "What I have in mind is abstracting part of a subject and making it a composition in its own right." The bulb seems to me to be a whole rather than a part. - Warren Sarle

This is better than the first you posted, though i liked that a lot too. I like the tight crop and the symmetrical composition, plus the detail. The base of the light bulb is a subject in its own right. Lovely.
