Basket full of feathers

These have been a staple at the Gadget for as long as I can remember. My grandmother would make quill pens and dip them into her stash of real ink. For a young girl it was truly remarkable. Some of the feathers look old enough to have been around when she was. I'm sure the basket has been around longer.

I learned to write in 1971 / 1972 dipping in real ink (of course, nobody believes me when I say that, but as I am a lefty, I can tell you that I remember this nightmare).
