Mushroom, shoe

I know I shouldn't eat unknown mushrooms whilst walking thru the woods, they do cause some interesting visions. This looks to me a grand Parisian lady, with the wide brimmed hat, and 1890's high laced shoes. Wonder what the cure is for hallucinations?

Great photo Karen, but don't know about eating one.

Why would you want to cure hallucinations??? LOL And, I can see the lady in this, too! She's very prim and proper. :) Great shot!!!

A fairy tale or childrens story could be written with this as a bookcover.

Oh Lou thanks for the educational read this morning.

Some of those could cause more then a hallucinations. Amanita's are among the best edible mushrooms on earth and some of them are among the most destructive as well.
The only on that is hallucinogenous is the red one with the white spots, called Amanita Muscaria. The fly catcher contains a hallucinogen poison called muscarin, The poison is contained in the red colour of the head. If you remove the red skin, you can eat the rest of the mushroom.
On the other side, Amanita Pantherina, the one you show here could be one of those, even if to me it looks more then a dry Amanita Rubescens or a Vaginaria, contains uncompatible protein chains. The same are found in Amanita Phalloides and Amanita Virosa and Verna.
Those closed cycle proteins are incompatible with human body which is made exclusively from open chain proteins. The cycled configuration of that proteins cannot be opened by our organism and they will continue a constant cycle, moving around between kidneys and liver until both organs are destroyed.
So, beware of unknown mushrooms, especially those with uncompatible proteins. Amanitas and Gallerina Marginata are those, so dangerous species that kill you in a horrible painful way. Most mushrooms are not "poisenous", they are just incompatible with human protein structure.
Closed cycle proteins are also in moistures and yeasts like Penicilliums (Cyclosporin and Cephallosporin). Most popular Penicilins are Penicilium Rocfortii contained in blue cheeses like Rocfort and Saccaromices Cervecii, our common beeer yeast.
Their closed chain proteins are used in small amounts in anti-biotics to close some gates to your cells and thus closing the entrance to viruses and parasites.
Other mushrooms contain alcaloids like halucinogens, some others contain long time stroring poisons which get active when the amount stored in your body has reached a critical mass and then they destroy your organs, most kidneys are affected. Giromitrin, contained in Morchellas, Giromitras and other similar ascomycethes are among those.
So, again, beware of playing games with mushrooms !!!
