The piazza gets his name from 2 massive bronze scultures of two cavaliers and their horses. Somehow the cavaliers are not normally remembered, and Piacentini are mostly fond of the two horses... The statues have been recently restored after year of abuse by the abbundant pigeons. This fondness for the horses is at odd with the Piacentini fondness for horse meat. One of the specialty of Piacenza is "picula ad caval", a dish prepared with minced horse meat.
