Once upon a time, there was a legendary Pontiac dealership in Royal Oak, Michigan. The people at Royal Pontiac were into performance, and they developed modifications for new GTO's and other Pontiacs that increased performance. Thinner head gaskets to raise compression, carburetors were rejetted, the distributor curve was altered, and the hydraulic lifters were modified. Cars that received these changes were called "Royal Bobcats," and received this fender badge.
