I was baptised, made my Communion, Confirmation,graduated and married in this beautiful church. My parents owed Ed & Joe's Bar down the street, and I remember every Easter time going the Saturday before to get our baskets blessed. It was and still is a beautiful church.

I use to live at Barry's Tavern and every Sunday, we would go to this beautiful church for masses. On Good Friday, my dad faithfully went for the station of the cross. I was baptized in 1951,had my communion and confirmation here. I was married at this church and I hope that I will be buried here. At this church,everybody knew each other. This church brought people together. My favorite time was Easter,because the way they made the meaning of Jesus,so real.

My mom and all her 8 siblings were baptized here, went to elementary school here, had the First Communions and Confirmations here. Some were married here. Some of there children were married here.
Times were, if you didn't arrive 1/2 hour before Easter Vigil or Christmas Eve Masses, you had to stand. (The pews held over 1000). There were no less than 5 masses every Sunday.
The church is undergoing a total interior painting. The "barrel" lights are gone. The Stations of the Cross have all been restored. This masterpiece should remain as a tribute to all the Poles (and others) of Black Rock who gave of themselves in order to have it built.

In doing some family history research I discovered that my Grandfather was baptized in this church in 1907. It's a beautiful church and I would like to visit it some day.

I was baptised in this church in 1949. My parents were living on Grote Street in Black Rock

I remember what a wonderfull classic church this is. I don't like the "now-a-day" newer churches, they just don't seem religious to me. I live in Florida now and have been away for many years. There are no such churches in my area. I really miss them. Thank You for such great photos.
