Central Terminal Showing Buffalo Statue

I don't think this is the famous Buffalo that was in Central Terminal. I vaguely recall that it looked like a stuffed Buffalo, that is, a real one preserved by a taxidermist. I just don't remember.

The abridged buffalo timeline: Stuffed buffalo which was an advertisement for the museum of science - removed in 1945 because it was getting bare, plaster replacement ordered and installed, plaster buffalo smashed in the early 90's, UB starts searching for their own buffalo statue, wants the BCT buffalo but finds out its smashed in the early 90's. UB gets contacted by Mesmore and Damon of NYC saying "we still have the molds from 1945 and we can make you a bronze one if you want" ....Molds are said to now be in UB's possession but they cant find them, BUT the bronze statue was made in NYC so there's no reason for the molds to be @ UB. The auction house that liquidated Messmore and Damon doesn't remember selling any molds and Col Messmore's daughter Pamela doesn't remember any statue molds either. (I talked to the auctioneer and Pamela myself last summer)

I remember going to the terminal on Sunday morning with my uncle to pick up the Suday New York Times. Probably the only place to get it in the 1960's.

This is the Plaster Buffalo. The Bronz Buffalo that replaced the Plaster Buffalo was believed to be melted down to help in the 'war effor'. The Bronz Buffalo replaced the 'Stuffed' Buffalo and the Plaster Buffalo replaced the Bronz Buffalo. The plaster was painted with "gold" paint to "look" Bronz. The Univeristy of Buffalo has the original 'Stuffed Buffalo'.

You're right, it was a (real) stuffed Buffalo ! At least it was
when I left from there in 1958 to go into the Army. I never saw
the bronze (?) one or whatever this is.
