Routinely vilified, roundly scoffed at, but still a French Quarter mainstay for over fifty years. They add to the color and character of the French Quarter, going along with the sense of openness and acceptance of all, that has been the hallmark of New Orleans in general, and the French Quarter in particular.
Prior to this trip to New Orleans, I read "Managing Ignatius: The Lunacy of Lucky Dogs and Life in the Quarter" by Jerry E. Strahan, and gained an understanding and appreciation for this uniquely New Orleans slice of life. So much, that I had to try one, and it was good!
