Empress of Ireland Museum - Musee de la Mer - Pointe au Pere, Quebec

Someday I hope to dive this wreck, but for now it was a visit to the museum commemorating this marine disaster.

This building recalls the collision impact between the Canadian Pacific Railway's Empress of Ireland and the Norwegian coal-ship Storstad during the night of May 29th, 1914, on the Saint Lawrence River near Rimouski, Quebec. The collision damaged the Empress so severely that it sank in 14 minutes. Over 1000 souls were lost - more than on the Titanic!!
