Nore Valley Walking Route

This is a "group-effort" gallery, a compilation of photographs taken by our members, to visually record the Nore Valley Walking Route.
A walk through the River Nore Valley encompassing riverside and country road routes is currently being developed. It will run from Kilkenny City to the scenic village of Inistioge in South East Kilkenny, approximately 35km. away, where it will link to the South Leinster Way..

The Walking Route is a joint project between the Local community, Barrow Nore Suir Rural Development Ltd. (BNS), Kilkenny County Council and most importantly local landowners. It is only with the kind permission and generosity of local landowners that this project is becoming a reality. Now, in April 2006, the trail
is in the construction phase and hope is high that the route will be launched in Autumn 2006.

The local communities along the route are being encouraged to get involved with the project through developing their own looped walks. Once in place the walks will be properly maintained and marketed by the Steering group in association with local communities. The walking route will offer an opportunity for local communities, landowners and rural enterprises to use its existence as an attracting feature and it will be a worthwhile resource for locals and tourists alike to enjoy the fresh air and to get busy exploring the Nore.
