It is the platform of Circle and District Line Tube Station. This sub-surface station was opened on 1st October, 1868.
Due to the trains of Circle and District Line were driven by Stream Locomotive in 19th Century, many open top area were built for better ventilation and preventing the accumulation of smoke and fume.
