More than 35,000 runners, walkers, and revelers participated in this year's annual San Francisco's Bay to Breakers race.
As always, there are elite world-class runners and serious runners that make up most of the participants. There's the serious Hayes Street hill to climb and the flat stretch through Golden Gate Park.
But it's the participants from the "E Group" (the last to leave the starting blocks) and the fun-loving spectators (over 30,000 this year)who give the race its flare and notoriety. Costumes are bright and eye catching. There are "caterpillars", groups of 8-10 runners connected by a theme costume. There are even "floats" propelled by foot power. City leaders talked about banning nude racers again this year. If they did, their edict didn't work. Nude racers and walkers continue the tradition.
So, viewers be advised that this gallery contains nudity.
