Wes the boat driver, sitting, drives us out to the flats in the morning, under the direction of
our fishing guideRaieta (pronounced-Ryder). Raieta pilots the boat from his position, seated,
at the front of the canoe, through a maze of shallow channels to the area he chooses to fish,
where we disembark onto a "flat", which is anywhere between ankle and knee deep. Raieta walks
the flats with the anglers, while wes relocates the boat to a spot chosen by Raieta, where
having fished that flat under Raieta's direction, we meet the boat again, have a drink
and something to eat, and move to another flat.


I am arranging another trip to Christmas Island in April 2008. Anyone interested in joining
