I don't know what is says or whom it commemorates - maybe a Japanese speaking pBaser could please help ?

This mysterious-looking stone stands at the entrance to the Hasedera Temple in Kamakura, Japan.

I was spellbound by the visual beauty of those letters carved into old stone.
