For the past few years, the May Day parade in Minneapolis has begun with a group of cyclists with their mostly custom bikes riding out ahead of the floats. These photos represent a sample from the past two years. Nearby graffiti adds to context for the images -- it's too bad that the building in the first photo has been removed since last year's parade.
2008: the field that the cyclists used to meet on has been fenced in so they all met at a home nearby the beginning of the parade route. In front of the home, and pictured here, is reportedly the world's second tallest bicycle. It's leaning up against the house.
I haven't seen this group at the HPV (human powered vehicle) meetings. Some of their bicycle inventions are unique, especially the red recumbent cycle.
