Obligatory trolley tour. Don't visit Savannah and skip the trolley tour. There's no way you can get that much info, background and sightseeing scouting any other way. The trolley is not the best place for picture taking since you are moving, but you can use the time to mark places of interest on your map and return later. All tour guides are licensed by the City of Savannah, so you can be sure they know what they are talking about. We recommend Oglethorpe Tours. We choose them merely on price (most tours were $20 pp, Oglethorpe had a coupon from the Visitor's Center for half price), and we were not let down. Our driver/guide was a spunky woman who reminded me of Shirley Jones...in a good way. Additional perk: your trolley ticket gets you free transportation via AIR CONDITIONED short busses during your entire stay.
