Melanie took this shot of an elusive species of brushfinch as it peered back at her through the underbrush. When she showed me the image I said, "there's nothing there." After looking more closely, I thought this shot was a nice representation of the kind of looks at this species we got during our trip. It was a tough bird for us to find out in the open.
