Compare the level of the Rio Negro in this picture to "Sunset Over Pier #1" (page 1 of the gallery). That picture, taken in June from the same vantage point, shows the water just below the pier walkway.

Now, in Novemeber (why the $&$& am I still down here?!!) look how the water level has dropped!
