Wadi (Valley) Rushmiya (Today : Nachal Giborim) is situated at the eastern side of Haifa, close to Chalissa neighborhood. The Meaning of the name Rushmiya,in Aramic, is "the Head Of The Spring".
Archeological excavations show that people used to live here since the Byzantine era, when a fortress has been erected at the ascent of the Wadi.
At the beginning of the 20th century, people & their families, who worked in workshops & plants at downtown Haifa,or it's port, used to live in structures at the Wadi, because of their geographical proximity to their working places.
At the fifties & sixties of the 20th century, tens of new immigrants families, from North Africa & Eastern Europe, used to live in the Wadi, as well as in Challissa neighborhood, together with Arab families who had been living there before.
At the eighties, the majority of those living in the wadi were evacuated by the Municipality & the Government, because of development plans.
