Today was Mother's Day. My child Hannah surprised me with a beautiful
young red rose bush. I was snapping some photos so I can add them to
my scrapbook. However, I suddenly noticed this single lone rose bud.
The bush Hannah got for me is in its infancy with young leaves and no
blooming roses. When it is planted, it'll grow strong and produce
fragrant red roses. I realized the symbolism of this lone red rose
and in relation to my deafness. Sometimes I feel like my deafness
wraps me up and chokes me but inside within...shines a heart wanting
to shine and wanting to share with the world that there is a human
being with thoughts and feelings. So often I can't communicate too
well with hearing people and some of them don't really try to get
to know me or want to. When this beautiful rose bush is planted and
grows strong with roots spread deep inside the soil, in relation,
I will continue to grow strong and form deeper roots with God, my
family, and friends.
