Most of these are family snapshots, and will express their ideas through human values to those who may know these people. But to express ideas to a general audience, there needs to be more abstraction and incongruity. There is one incongruous image here -- the duck, and one abstract image -- the mother guiding the child. And there is one image, that while not incongruous or abstract, expresses human values so well that it could be expressive to a viewer who does not know these people -- the father and son shot.
There is a sense of lively enthusiasm that runs through these images, Jenene -- and all succeed as memories. But to make images as expression, you must be able to seamlessly integrate abstraction, incongruity, and human values.
