There is a Southern California tradition of combining the Thanksgiving holiday with a trip to the desert - most notably the Imperial Sand Dunes at Glamis, a BLM managed recreation area. The number of people is overwhelming - who knew so many found the spirit of giving thanks in the middle of the desert.
