Ringo recently worked out a deal to display his OBP (oyster black pearl) kit #4 behind glass at Bloomingdale's department store in Manhattan. It went on display September 11, 2013. Bloomingdale's is doing a big 50th anniversary push on their licensed Beatle products and they are looking to bring things in to create foot traffic. The kit will be on display there for 6 weeks after which it will ship to LA, where it will be on display at Bloomingdales in Culver City.
The display is actually a mix of both original 22" kits. The bass drum is from kit #4 (Shea '65) and the floor and rack toms are from kit #3 (64 & 66 tour). The jazz fest snare is one of the two that came with the 22" kits, but were generally not used.
Gary Astridge was brought in to do the setup along with Jeff Chonis. Russ was asked to create the drumhead. Since the bass drum was from kit #4, the '65 U.S. Tour head (head #5) was chosen to be represented on the front.
