Keith's Theatre

The B.F. Keith's Theatre, built in 1911 as a vaudeville theatre, was located at 25-27 Bridge St.
Robert Provencher said Keith’s had two balconies and a mezzanine and that painted on the canal side of the building was the sign, “B.F. Keith’s, the house of perfect sound…VITAPHONE”.
B. F. Keith also funded two Catholic High Schools in Lowell: Keith Academy for boys and Keith Hall for girls.
In 1933 it became R.K.O. Keith's theatre and operated until 1965.
According to Nancy Tuttle of the Lowell SUN, it remained empty until August of 1975, when the City foreclosed on it for back taxes and razed it in 1976 for parking. Robert Provencher though remembers it serving a brief stint as headquarters for a short-lived, semi-pro football team in Lowell and suffering a major fire before being torn down. Its front office building survives.
