Historically, there was a draw well at the fish market. Around 1770, Daniel Köhler created today's pillar fountain with a pumping device in its place . It survived the Second World War and was moved a few meters during the reconstruction. The structure was restored several times in the 20th century. However, damage was still evident. A fundraising campaign was launched that raised a total of €30,000. In addition to the countless small donations, the support of the Lions Club Würzburg-West and the Würzburg historian Werner Giesebrecht should be emphasized.
